Prototype to value engineer new urban bicycle enclosure, rolled out into batch manufacture



Award winning street furniture design company, based in the UK. A long standing customer for production of other products distributed throughout Europe, the owner approached us to manufacture prototypes for new large format urban bicycle enclosures that could then be rolled out as contracts are won. 

CEL's engineering team worked closely with our customer for a number of months to prototype design concepts, including four prototype versions before the full launch. This collaboration over the prototype enabled the customer to reduce production costs and optimise the final design. The successful prototype went on to win significant contracts all over London and now in Europe, and we continue to manufacture high monthly volumes with weekly deliveries.


Investment in production

CEL has made investments in production capacity and production machinery to support enormous growth in sales of our customer's product. We use advanced CAD software to support redesign of product and a number of quality procedures and checks to ensure these multiple parts are correct; including designing transportation stillages, batch numbering and quality procedures specific to this product.

Materials used: Mild steel gauges up to 10mm thick; rolled sections, galvanized sheets, rolled tube; all parts delivered powder coated and galvanized in kit form to customer.
